Meet the Principal
Hello! My name is Meridith Johnson and I am the principal at Lewis & Clark Elementary.
I grew up in Randall, MN and graduated from high school in Little Falls, MN in 1995. I attended college at Minnesota State, Mankato receiving my BA in Elementary Education in 2001. In 2005, I received my MS in Educational Leadership & Development from Southwest Minnesota State in Marshall, MN.
I was hired in 2001 to teach kindergarten (my dream job!) in Melrose, MN on my first teaching interview out of college. I taught there for 10 years before my husband’s job took us to the state of Wyoming. I then taught for 3 years in Gillette, WY before my husband’s job brought us here to Williston, ND. I am currently in my 4th year as the principal here. While I miss being in the classroom, I love that I get to work with many different students and their families on any given day. Our families at Lewis & Clark truly are our partners in education! I also love being able to hang out and build relationships with students whether it be at breakfast, in the classroom or hallway, at lunch, or on the playground. Lewis & Clark students are amazing and I can’t wait to see them each day at school! My special interests in education are early childhood learning and being trauma informed.
My husband and I have 4 children. We love to travel, camp, fish and go boating. I am a coffee and chai tea aficionado and love to tend to my flowers in the summer. We enjoy being a part of the Williston community as there are many opportunities for families here! I look forward to getting to know your family!
