Williston High School's CTE Program received two awards at the 2023 ND Career & Technical Education - Professional Development Conference in Bismarck earlier this month.
2023 Director's Award of Excellence: Career Development
WHS / Great Northwest Area Career Technical Center recognized for:
- Hosting a motivational Career Expo each fall, with recent numbers equaling almost 100 employers and 800 students participating.
- Organizing successful industry tour groups of about 25 students that experience specific industries for a day, with some past tours including the energy and transportation pathways.
2023 Director's Award of Excellence: Health Science Education
WHS recognized for:
- Exposing students to several professions in the health science field through guest speakers in each occupation, including social workers, surgeons, vets, and athletic trainers.
- Partnering with the Williston Fire Department to teach an EMT course, where students do “ride-along” in the ambulance and learn the skills to allow them to pass the EMT exam successfully, upon which the fire department can hire them to work as EMTs.
Congratulations and thank you to WHS staff for making this CTE magic happen for students!
